I visited the United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum while the 2024 games are running! There’s so much good energy there, I really liked my visit. I took a few pictures and made some new friends, including Carly Patterson, who became the first American woman in 20 years to win the all-around gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. This was on the same day that Simone Biles won Gold and Suni Lee won bronze for the very same event!
We watched some of the competitions live from Paris from Bob Beamon’s long jump overlook. It’s hard to believe the height of this platform happens to be nearly the same distance as Bob Beamon’s incredible 1968 long jump of 29 feet 2 ½ inches that stood as the world record for 23 years and remains the Olympic record over 50 years later. I love jumping, but even I can’t jump that far!
All around, a great visit and a fun day. If you are in Colorado Springs, give it a try. I couldn’t participate in many of the interactive displays, but for all of you humans reading this, you’ll have fun like my humans did.
P.S. My favorite stop at the Flame Café for some treats.
